Poker Game Jacks

Progressive Jacks

Poker UK

The mechanics of the deal and the basic strategy for this poker game are identical to Jacks. The opening requirements vary, however, if the pot is not opened on the first round. On the second round (following a new deal and usually an additional ante), it takes queens or better to open. On the third round, kings or better. On the fourth round, aces or better. Then back to kings and on back down to jacks. Normally, the staying requirements for Jacks will apply to Progressive Jacks. Obviously, though, a pair of kings becomes a short pair if aces are required to open. Even so, short pairs are often worth a call in fixed-limit sessions when the ante is repeated with each progression; if the opening requirements have gone up to aces or better and then start back down; even inside straights are worth a gamble.

Online Poker Push

Here’s a high-low game from Irv Roddy''s Friday Night poker cards. First, each player receives a hole card. Then the player on the dialer’s left gets an up card. He either keeps it or pushes it to the player on his left. If he pushes, he gets as a replacement the top card off the deck and must keep it for the time being. The next player may accept the card pushed to him, or he may push it along and replace it with an up card off the deck. And so on. When the dealer pushes, the card is burned. The first betting interval takes place after everyone has an up card. Then the second up card is dealt, and the active players can keep both up cards or push either one of them the second betting interval occurs when every active player has received his second up card.
And so on until every active player has four up cards. Then each active player is allowed to buy one substitution card, either up or down, depending on how he shucks. Final betting interval. Showdown. Push sounds like fun, but I haven’t played it enough to offer much advice promotions. Here’s part of what Roddy said: "As in most high-low games, you should tend to prefer a low start rather than a high start. The ideal situation is to be playing low and have a high player to your right. The reverse is also good. In short, if you are not competing with the player who must push to you, he will sometimes ''fatten you.''

Problem While Playing

Follow the queen in Poker

A Seven-Card Stud game in which the card (and all like it) that falls immediately after a queen is wild. If two or more queens are dealt up, the card following the last queen is the wild one. Thus, it is not uncommon for the wild card to change once or twice in the course of a hand. Also, it is entirely possible that no queen will show, in which case there is no wild card. Follow the Queen is rather unstable, so that high triplets make the only really good playing hand on the go. In loose play, most players will stay on any high pair until they see the first queen and subsequent wild card.

"One of the difficult problems that constantly arise in this game is the treatment of an 8. On the first and second up UK poker games cards, I recommend pushing it. An 8 doesn’t win the low often enough. On the third and fourth push you must decide on the basis of the apparent strength of the other low opponents and the exposed cards. If you are holding ace down and 2, 5, 8 up and receive a 6, but the 4''s and 3''s are all dead, you should hold the 8. You can only improve to a 7-65, and that isn’t much of an improvement. On the other hand, if a preponderance of the pictures has been exposed so that the 3''s and 4''s are live and there is some strong low competition, push the 8."
