Cards Beat Players
The frustrations of low limit poker are legion. There are many ways to get beat, and so many events can happen in any low limit poker game. It is quite common for a fairly decent player to go off the edge because some other player does something dumb and gets lucky. That is just the way life is in low limit. Terrible beats go with the territory. Your choices are essentially two: go on tilt or learn to accept. I guess there is another option, now that I think about it. You can quit low-limit poker. Poker Finger Tips
Hold the deck in the left hand crosswise, face down, the thumb resting across the top. Hold the card to be exchanged in the right hand between the thumb and first fingertips, thumb on top, finger under. Now the hands are brought together for an instant by an easy swing, both hands moving in the same general direction but one hand faster than the other. As they meet the left thumb pushes the top cards slightly over the side, the right hand places its card on top and clips the protruding card between the tips of the first and second fingers, carrying it off, the left thumb retaining the now top card and sliding it back into position on the deck. Poker Rules
The Bug is a joker without full privileges. It counts as an additional ace and may also be used to make up any straight or flush. Thus the Bug and a 6, 7, 8, 9 constitute a straight. But the Bug, three sixes and a ten merely count as three sixes since the Bug is not strictly a wild card. Here is where you have to shift for yourself. If you happen to have an "immortal" at this point, you want to build the pot up as high as possible, and whether this is best accomplished by means of checking, making a small bet, or making a large bet depends upon too many considerations to be discussed in a book for poker. Conversely, if your opponent has a possible "immortal" against you, it is up to you to figure out whether or not he has this hand.
